But many of those who had heard the word believed\, and the number of the men came to about five thousand.” \nActs 4:3–4 · ESV \n \n   \nThis Sunday \nThe same sermon that saved 5\,000 landed two preachers in jail.\nPeter and John healed a man who had never walked a day in his life\, right on the steps of the Temple. Five thousand people believed. And the most powerful religious court in Jerusalem moved in to shut it down. \nThey couldn’t. \nSeven months ago\, the Chinese Communist Party launched its largest coordinated crackdown on an independent church in over 40 years — arresting nearly 30 pastors of Zion Church\, including founder Pastor Ezra Jin\, whose congregation had grown to 5\,000 believers through Zoom sermons during the pandemic. Before the arrests came\, someone asked him what would happen if all of Zion’s leaders were taken. He replied: “Hallelujah — because a new wave of revival is coming.” \nTwo thousand years apart.
